Dream Interpretation - the Kitchen

The kitchen can symbolize the need for nourishment, either in the form of food, or nourishment of the soul through spiritual pursuits. What is in your dream kitchen can be revealing as well. If the kitchen contains all that is needed for a gourmet meal, it can mean that you have all you need in life. If, on the other hand the cupboard is bare of the kitchen is empty, it could mean you need to seek nourishment for your body and your soul.

Never dreamt about kitchens.. maybe that means something too. Hhmm.. maybe that I have no nourishment issues whatsoever. I'm usually dream I'm outdoors.

Dreams about houses - the bathroom.

Dreaming of a bathroom can mean that something is not quite right in your life, and that a cleansing or purging is needed. It can also mean that something in your life is not working, and that you need to move on.

Now this makes alot of sense! I dreamt once that the devil was chasing me through the house and we ended up in the bathroom. I tried to hide in the bath, but the bottom gave way and there was sky beneath me! I was hanging onto the edge of the bath and the devil was bashing my fingers, trying to make me let go! Horrible.

Dreams about houses - the attic

I've been dreaming alot about different parts of the house over the last week, so let's do a series on the dream interpretation of different aspects of dwellings!

Today we start with the the interpretation of being in an attic during your dream:

The attic is thought to symbolize your higher self, or your spiritual development. Dreams involving an attic, or climbing into an attic, often represent the search for spiritual enlightenment or a higher purpose.

White Doves today...

The white dove is well known as a symbol of peace, or as a symbol of the Holy Spirit in the Christian religion. Dreaming of a pair of doves can signal a yearning or a desire for love and companionship.

Christians and Dream Interpretation

Many Christians have a problem with dream interpretation because they see it as a form of divination, which is prohibited in the Bible, as a part of the occult. Actually, there is quite a lot of dream interpretation in the bible itself, and that dream interpretation is often perceived as a message from God. Dream Interpretation can be viewed either way. A third way to view dream interpretation is purely psychological. Within our society and personal lives, we associate meanings with various symbols. Take for instance the white rabbit. In the book “Alice in Wonderland” the white rabbit leads Alice on an adventure down the rabbit hole. The symbol is used again in the movie “The matrix”, when the main character sees a white rabbit as a tattoo, and goes down a “rabbit hole” or adventure of his own. So to dream of a white rabbit may indicate that you feel that something quite mundane in your life may actually turn out to be quite extraordinary. Although this example is simple psychology, it could also be used as a symbol for divination. (Divination involves predicting the future.) So you could interpret this dream to mean that something quite out of the ordinary is going to happen to you soon! See how something that you FEEL may happen to you, becomes something that WILL happen to you if you use the dream symbol as a method of divination?

So what is a Christian to do when they dream about a white rabbit? The answer is to look at the symbol as something that represents how you might be feeling about your life or an aspect of your life at the moment, rather than looking at it as an open foretelling something that is going to happen to you in the future.

Nearly finished the "A" words...

in the Dictionary. it sure takes a long time for those things to come together!

One word that stuck out was "Ambush".. this is what it says:

To dream that your are atacked from ambush, denotes that you have lurking secretly near you a danger, which will soon set upon and overthrow you if you are heedless of warnings.

If you lie in ambush to revenge yourself on others, you will unhesitatingly stoop to debasing actions to defraud your friends.

Tid-bits on chasing dreams...

Chase dreams can be reactions to events in your waking life. For instance, there may be something you are supposed to do but have been avoiding. If this proposed action is a source of fear, stress and confusion, is can sometimes manifest in your dream life as an attacker or pursuer. Instead of facing your fear, you are running from it, and the attacker in your dreams represents the thing you are trying to get away from or avoid in real life.

In some cases the pursuer or attacker in a chase dream represents not an outside force but part of your self instead. Unresolved feelings of anger, jealousy and fear can often enter your dreams in the form of a threatening or frightening figure. In reality, the attacker in your dreams is a representation of these issues in your waking life.

Dreams where you are being chased can be easy to turn around for many people. Some people are better than others at taking an active role in their dream, but everyone who is aware of their dream should at least try to resolve a frightening dream. For instance, the next time you are being chased in a dream, try turning around and confronting the pursuer. Ask the pursuer what he or she wants and why they are chasing you.

Today's dream interpretation - abandon, abandoning

I've actually never felt abandoned in a dream - but I was amazed to read of all the different things it could mean.

To dream that you are abandoned, denotes that you will have difficulty in framing your plans for future success.

To abandon others, you will see unhappy conditions piled thick around you, leaving little hope of surmounting them. If it is your house that you abandon, you will soon come to grief in experimenting with fortune.

If you abandon your sweetheart, you will fail to recover lost valuables, and friends will turn aside from your favors.

If you abandon a mistress, you will unexpectedly come into a goodly inheritance.

Welcome to A Dream a Day.

Ever since I was a kid and dreamt that giant koalas were chasing me with tennis rackets, I've been fascinated with dreaming.

This blog is a tribute to that fasciation! I'll be posting a different dream on a regular basis. (Generally just a snippet from an article on my site that we can focus on for the day.) If you have a dream or dream symbol you would like interpreted, please feel free to post in the comments.

All the best,

Erika
